That said, the XLoc has a Floodgate control knob on it, and if you dial it all the way open, it provides something similar to a platform with good suspension motion, but it still won’t be quite as plush as when the lockout is turned off. So, you don’t have any compression adjustment externally. The buttons are so hard as they are not meant to be pressed. Bought the 2 forks from CRC and the forks arrived in mint condition with just one problem that the remote lockout button just won't get pressed on either of the forks. With the XX Motion Control, you get the thermoplastic compression tube and the hydraulic remote that either fully opens or fully closes the ports. I have a Rockshox Revelation XX dual Air Spring 140mm with Xloc remote lockout. pdf 15 MB: 2014-Present Vivid Air Serivce Manual German: Deutsch. pdf 6 MB: 2020-2022 Reverb AXS Service Manual English: English. pdf 13 MB: 2015 Monarch Plus Service Manual: English. It only moves about 3mm total, which tells you how little the compression tube actually compresses to do its job. pdf 3 MB: 2014 Monarch RL RT XX Service Manual: English. Turning the Floodgate knob sets how much the tube will compress before it pokes the valve cover out. This fully opens the oil flow for one hit, allowing the fork to soak up the hit, then a spring pushes it closed again (shown below). When you hit something really big while locked out, the tube will compress enough for the poker to, literally, poke the compression valve cover out, as shown above. The ti or plastic compression tubes will compress slightly even when the fork is locked, allowing several millimeters of travel. Well, in the real world, the fork should still move slightly to allow it to track well. When you have the fork locked out, that essentially means the compression oil ports are closed, so no oil can flow and the fork can’t move. The other feature that’s built into the the Motion Control assembly is Floodgate, which is what sets the blowoff threshhold when the fork is locked out. And that’s where that technically named piece called “the poker” comes into play. Again, this is explained better in a sec. Technically, you also have XX Motion Control, but it is essentially the same as Motion Control without the adjustable compression damping. Motion Control DH is a little different and we didn’t take a look at that on this visit (update will come if we can get photos of that system, but I’ll explain how and why these versions are mainly for XC use versus DH).įor XC / Trail / All Mountain type riding, you have two options depending on how much you wanna spend on your fork: Motion Control and Blackbox Motion Control. The parts above are what make up the Motion Control for their XC oriented forks. If you recall, we posted a tech article on how Fox Racing Shox’s Terralogic works recently, and it’s really cool to see how different companies use completely different mechanisms to accomplish a similar end result (and by similar, I’m not comparing performance, just the fact that all suspension brands want damping, etc.). I took a little tour of Rockshox’s Colorado Springs, CO, facility yesterday and had Sander Rigney, RS’s product manager, run through their Motion Control compression damping system for me. This should be a sign of low oil in the fork but I’m wondering if it might be related it the problems I’m having with the Xloc.Support us! BikeRumor may earn a small commission from affiliate links in this article. The fork quickly goes too locked out after compressing it a few times. The other issue is that when I turn the bike upside down then right side up the fork is open even if the Xloc is locked out. On today’s ride the fork worked perfect but I did not moved the gate dial as I’m afraid that it will end up permanently locked out again. I bled the Xloc again last night and it took a long time (30 minutes+) to get to the point of very few bubbles coming out. Yesterday I turned it all the way in after which the lock out button would not return to its fully extended position when the Xloc was locked out and the fork remained locked out when even when the Xloc was pressed in to the open position. When I turn it back out (opposite direction of the arrow) the buttons goes back out. What is now happening is, when the Xloc is extended, in lock out position and I turn the gate adjust in (the direction of the arrow and +) the lock out button starts to go in as the gate dial is turned. Rock Shox is replacing this, Thanks! I attempted to tape the bad one and bleed the Xloc. It came with a bleed kit for the Xloc but one of the syringes is cracked. I have a 2012 XX Sid 29er fork and am having some issues with the Xloc.
